About Kyte Tatt
Kyte Tatt is an American-born mixed media artist currently based in Berlin, Germany. His artistic trajectory is a narrative of constant movement—both geographical and creative—and his works serve as a bridge between the vast, open landscapes of the United States and the raw, urban energy of his adopted home in Europe.
A Journey Through Landscapes and Time
Before establishing his roots in Berlin, Kyte spent nearly a decade living and traveling in a caravan across the USA. This nomadic lifestyle was far more than a mere travel experience; it was a deep immersion into diverse art communities and grassroots projects. During these ten years on the road, he honed his eye for detail and his understanding of materials, learning to find profound beauty in the weathered and the overlooked. The culmination of these experiences from the American highways forms the very foundation of his contemporary practice.
The year 2015 marked a definitive turning point when Kyte relocated to his beloved Berlin. It was here, within the city’s legendary dynamic atmosphere, that he began painting in earnest. As a natural autodidact and creative, he rapidly developed a unique visual language. His ability to teach himself complex techniques, combined with an innate creative drive, allowed his evolution as a painter to progress with remarkable speed. Berlin became the catalyst required to transform years of observation into physical works on canvas.
Artistic Vision and Philosophy
Kyte’s artistic process is deeply personal and characterized by a metaphorical understanding of the world. He describes the act of creation through the analogy of how diamonds are formed: through prolonged, intense pressure on decaying matter. For Kyte, art is the refined result of the pressures an often-decaying world exerts on the individual. Out of this perceived chaos and decline, he extracts something permanent, beautiful, and significant.
Nature plays a central role in his work, though not necessarily as a direct subject for depiction. Instead, nature acts as an explanatory model for life itself. He explores "the way a flower feels" or how the inherent logic of the natural world can be translated into a language of color, line, and mark. His canvases are spaces where imagination commingles with metaphor and memory, inviting the viewer into a sensory dialogue with the artist’s history.
Visual Language and Expression
In his mixed media works, Kyte Tatt moves seamlessly between the abstract and the intuitive. Every brushstroke and material choice is a deliberate attempt to capture the power, beauty, and diversity of existence. His art is not merely a visual experience but an emotional reflection on how we navigate a world in constant flux.
Today, Kyte Tatt’s work represents the culmination of a life defined by transition. From the open vistas of America to the dense, historical streets of Berlin, his art carries the weight of experience and the lightness of discovery. He continues to push the boundaries of mixed media, remaining a dedicated observer of both the human condition and the profound wisdom found in the natural world.
