Nos complace invitarle a la inauguración VIP de Where Thought Stops, una exposición conjunta de Anna Brandt y Alexander Ericsson.
Para ambos artistas, la pintura comienza donde la conciencia ordinaria afloja su control. Sus obras no surgen de ideas fijas ni de narrativas predeterminadas, sino de estados de suspensión: momentos en los que el pensamiento se retira, el tiempo se desplaza y la necesidad de explicar desaparece.
Brandt aborda la pintura a través de otro tipo de desaparición. Su trabajo comienza en el momento en que el pensamiento se detiene y el control da paso al instinto. La pintura se convierte en un lugar de liberación: no en vacío, sino en un estado cargado de apertura.
Las figuras de Ericsson están presentes y, al mismo tiempo, retenidas: rostros simplificados, miradas ocultas, identidades mantenidas justo fuera de alcance. Ocupan la imagen como figuras al borde de una habitación, visibles, observadoras, pero nunca completamente accesibles.
Juntas, Where Thought Stops pone en diálogo dos prácticas en torno al ocultamiento, el instinto y la presencia parcial. La exposición se pregunta qué puede contener la pintura cuando no está obligada a hablar de inmediato, cuando la imagen permanece suspendida, retenida y silenciosamente viva.

For both artists, painting begins where ordinary consciousness loosens its grip. Their works do not emerge from fixed ideas or predetermined narratives, but from states of suspension, moments when thought recedes, time shifts and the need to explain falls away.
Brandt approaches painting through another kind of disappearance. Her work begins in the moment when thought stops and control gives way to instinct. Painting becomes a place of release: not emptiness, but a charged state of openness.
Erikson’s figures are present yet withheld: faces simplified, eyes obscured, identities held just beyond reach. They occupy the image like figures at the edge of a room, visible, observant, but never fully available.
Together, Where Thought Stops, brings two different practices into dialogue around concealment, instinct and partial presence. The exhibition asks what painting can hold when it is not required to speak at once, when the image remains suspended, withheld and quietly alive.
