Beastin/BSTN

BSTN has long been an icon within European street and sneaker culture, and through its collaboration with Mankovsky Gallery, their aesthetic is transported into the realm of fine art. The series of works, photographed by Filip Gorski, portrays sneakers as more than just objects – they become symbols of identity, desire, and the passage of time.

With “First Light” and “Last Legs”, a contrast emerges between the new and the worn, the untouched and the lived-in. Here, the sneaker transforms into an artistic medium as charged as a classical sculpture, yet rooted in a subculture that today resonates worldwide. The raw authenticity is reinforced by Gorski’s background and eye for detail, lending the images an almost documentary-like intensity.

Beastin BSTN

Contemporary Photography Where Sport, Culture and Design Converge.

Beastin, in collaboration with Munich-based lifestyle retailer BSTN, presents a distinctive body of fine art photography that transforms sneaker and basketball culture into visually powerful art statements. Rooted in contemporary urban identity, the collection captures everyday objects elevated through concept, composition and cultural context.

At Mankovsky Gallery, Beastin BSTN is presented as part of our focus on photography that bridges popular culture and fine art. Each work reflects a deep understanding of style, materiality and modern desire.

The Story Behind Beastin BSTN

The collection consists of two photographic series First Light and Last Legs both centered on the idea of desirability and how value evolves over time. Through close observation, the images document sneakers in different stages of use, from pristine form to visible wear.

Rather than portraying footwear as static objects, the photographs explore sneakers as cultural artifacts shaped by movement, community and personal history. The result is a visual narrative about attraction, status and the traces left by passion and use.

Visual Language and Concept

Beastin BSTN’s imagery balances precision with emotion. The compositions are minimal yet charged with meaning, allowing subtle details to speak.

Key characteristics of the work include:

  • A strong focus on material textures and surface wear
  • Controlled lighting that emphasizes form and presence
  • A restrained color palette rooted in basketball and sneaker culture
  • A quiet, reflective tone that invites interpretation rather than explanation

The photographs move fluidly between documentation and abstraction, positioning familiar objects within a fine art context.

Collaboration with Filip Gorski

The collection was created in collaboration with photographer and self-taught visual artist Filip Gorski. A former basketball player, Gorski brings an insider’s understanding of sport culture to his photographic practice.

His background informs both subject matter and composition, resulting in images that feel authentic, informed and visually refined. Each print carries a balance of cultural knowledge and artistic restraint, merging lived experience with contemporary photography.

Museum-Grade Fine Art Prints

All Beastin BSTN works are produced as giclée prints on Hahnemühle 310gsm fine art paper using archival pigment inks. Each print is hand-printed, numbered and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.

The artworks are presented in a custom-designed concrete gray velvet art tube, reinforcing the collection’s tactile and collectible character.

Limited Editions for Collectors

Each artwork is released in a strictly limited edition of 50. Editions 1–25 are available through BSTN, while editions 26–50 are exclusively offered via Mankovsky Gallery.

This limited availability ensures that every print remains a rare and desirable addition to both contemporary art collections and sneaker-focused interiors.
